A WORKING LIFE WITH DOGS

You might not have always realised that a career with dogs was your future, but now you're here, you're utterly in love with it... the muddy paws, the wet noses, being able to truly make a difference.

Besides the dogs, you probably spend a lot of time with books and courses.

Getting your geek on is easy in the dog world.

You could happily spend years combing through back catalogues of training videos and running up some serious debt with your local bookseller.

When other people want to switch off at the end of the work day, all you can think about is tomorrow's client list. A commitment to improving the lives of dogs and their humans can be all-consuming.

But this is the bit that can get overwhelming. It's easy to get lost in it all.

GETTING EFFICIENT

It's easy to get swamped by just how much is out there.

Despite all the courses you've already done, you might feel like sometimes, you don't have quick answers, or there might be more efficient ways to get at a problem.

The Lighten Up Mentorship gives you the opportunity to reflect on best practice and to ask all the questions that sit nagging away at you so that you can offer your clients the very best of cutting-edge techniques.

Imagine Emma like your own little research team, finding out the answers for you... even if they are, 'we don't know!'

PEER DISCUSSION

Working in isolation is challenging.

The Lighten Up Mentorship aims to provide a safe and supportive online community with regular peer meetings so you can connect and share insights with trusted colleagues.

These sessions have an agenda chosen by members and occur to suit your timetable.

You'll get access to the 'Off the Leash Lounge' - a comfortable online space where you can network, collaborate and find support. Oh, and laugh. That too.

Bring your lunch, grab a coffee, put your feet up, have a laugh, share ideas and put an end to the isolation.

SUPPORT YOUR CLIENTS

Even if you've come from careers where you had to deal with the human challenges in life, it can get much more complex when dogs are involved.

Regular, timetabled sessions where topics, themes and case studies are discussed will give you expertise when it comes to your clients, so that you can be both cheerleader and coach.

Working with dogs and their humans is a niche skillset that we're not always prepared for. Putting coaching at the centre makes all the difference.

Emma has presented for many different organisations and is dedicated to improving the lives of both humans and dogs.

ABOUT ME

I'm Emma. It's my business in life to foster connections and inspire understanding. Yes, I'm a chaser of lightbulb moments. Canine or human, it's all magic to me.

I'm the Chief Bark-itect of Training at Lighten Up Dog Training and certified canine behaviour consultant (IAABC CSB-D) having spent six years as a trustee in one of France's largest open-access animal shelters and ten years running my own business.

Learning runs like blood through my veins and there's nothing I love more than making synapses pop.

My journey here has been both typical and unique. With a background in psychology and teaching, I cut my teeth in the classroom. But like many, a chance trip to a local shelter inspired an unquenchable passion that became a new quest for me.

Fast forward a few years and here I am, living the proverbial dream, bridging the gap between humans and dogs. As much as I love dogs, my true joy lies in empowering people find healthy and growth-promoting ways to live better lives with their canine family. I present regularly for other organisations as well as my own and I'm no stranger to facilitating professional development.

Did I mention my fellow Enlightenment Engineer of the Shepherd persuasion, Lidy? Together we're on an interspecies mission to make learning irresistible - one lightbulb moment, one synaptic pop at at time.
